The sudden closure of PM Law Group has understandably caused concern for many people who had ongoing matters—particularly clinical negligence, personal injury and housing-related claims.
The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) has intervened into PM Law Ltd and a number of associated firms. The SRA says it acted to protect client interests, and that an intervention allows files and client money to be secured. Gordons LLP has been appointed as the intervention agent and a dedicated email address has been set up for enquiries.
If your claim was being dealt with by any part of PM Law Group, this post explains what has happened, what to do next, and how Complex Law can help you move things forward.
What has happened?
The SRA said it was alerted to the unexpected closure and launched an immediate investigation. It then intervened into PM Law Ltd and a list of connected firms to protect clients and beneficiaries of any trusts held by those firms.
An intervention is a regulatory step that can involve taking possession of client files and client funds so they can be held securely while the SRA’s investigation continues.
What does an intervention mean for your case?
In practical terms, this often means:
- Your file and documents are secured by the intervention agent rather than being accessible through your former solicitor.
- Your matter may not progress unless you instruct a new solicitor to take it over.
- If there are urgent deadlines (court hearings, limitation, expert evidence dates), it is important that a new solicitor acts quickly to protect your position.
The SRA has said there are tens of thousands of live cases affected, and it is working to identify and contact clients, prioritising urgent matters.
What you should do now (quick checklist)
If your case was with PM Law Group, you can help protect your position by doing the following now:
- Gather what you have
Any letters/emails from PM Law, the other side, insurers, medical providers, landlord/housing officer, or the court. - Note any deadlines
Hearing dates, limitation dates, upcoming medical appointments, expert report dates, settlement response deadlines. - Don’t accept any settlement or sign anything
Especially anything described as “full and final settlement” until you’ve had legal advice. - Know who holds the files
The SRA appointed Gordons LLP as the intervention agent, with a dedicated email address: PM@gordonsllp.com.

FAQs
Do I need to do anything right now?
If you have any upcoming deadlines or hearings, it’s important to act promptly. Even where there are no immediate dates, early action helps avoid delays while files are being retrieved.
